I'm running to provide support to survivors of sexual assault this April - will you support me?

I wanted to reach out personally because there is still too much stigma around sexual assault survivors and not enough support in combating violence in our communities

This April, I'm participating in Stride for Safe Place - a virtual 5K benefiting Hanover Safe Place, a local non-profit serving survivors of domestic and sexual violence right here in Hanover County.

Running has always been a space where I’ve sought strength and clarity—but like so many others, I’ve also experienced moments of sexual harassment while out on the road. Those moments stick with you. They change how safe you feel doing something you love. They shouldn’t be part of anyone’s experience, yet they are far too common.

This run is personal. It’s about turning those experiences into action—standing in support of survivors, raising awareness, and pushing for a world where everyone can feel safe, whether they’re out for a run or just living their daily life. Every step is for those who’ve felt unsafe, unheard, or alone—and for the hope that together, we can help bring change.

Sexual violence affects 1 in 5 women and nearly 1 in 6 men in their lifetime. Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. But here's what I believe: we have the power to change that. By supporting organizations like Hanover Safe Place, we invest in crisis support, counseling, legal advocacy, emergency shelter, and prevention education that makes our community safer for everyone.

During run week (April 20th-24th) I'll be completing a virtual 5K to raise funds and awareness for survivors in our community. Please join me in this fight by either pledging miles or donating to make my miles meaningful to the cause
